Week 1 - Al Foster

Starting Location:  101 Grand Ave, Glencoe, MO 63038 (trail head)

Parking Instructions - Plan on meeting at the La Salle Springs Middle School (3300 Missouri 109, Glencoe, MO 63038) parking lot starting at 6:30am.  We will leave that lot promptly at 6:45am to head to the trail head.  The 2nd paved parking lot will be our starting location (this is the one just before the mini train station and is the newest lot) - there is one at the corner of Washington and Grand when the main lot fills, and there are some gravel lots just past the train station closer to the trail itself you may use. Due to the size of our group though we are trying to cut down on congestion by using the car pool lot as this is a pretty regularly used trail, so please do so if you can. We will get the run started by 7:00am with a group photo.

Run Description:

SEE MAP BELOW

Everyone will start off running the main gravel Al Foster path taking it to the paved Rock Hollow trail at approximately a mile into the run, then follow that path. Those going SHORT will see a side trail on your LEFT at roughly 1.3mi into the run - turn there to hop onto some single track trail. Follow this path and at the next intersection KEEP STRAIGHT and to the LEFT. This will wind around back down over the mini train tracks and along a gravel portion briefly before turning back to single track trail. The next intersection you will turn LEFT to take you back down to the main Al Foster trail and turn RIGHT to head back towards where we started. Overall mileage is probably just shy of 3 miles, so if you want to add a little more miles on afterwards simply head back out some if you like.

For those going LONG, stay on the Rock Hollow trail after those running short turn off. Look for the next trail on your RIGHT just before one of the bridges and turn there onto the single track trail. Keep LEFT on this trail at the first intersection you see (they are currently building more trails here and it may or may not be finished yet, so ignore that path). This portion is roughly a mile long and takes you back out to the Rock Hollow paved trail again...keep STRAIGHT as you cross it to continue on the single track trail. From this point (#4 on the map below) you will keep RIGHT at all your trail intersections as you wind your way back and rejoin the rest of the short course, and then follow that the same as them back to the start. Overall mileage is roughly around 7 miles or so.
