What is the FLEET FEET Runners Club?
The FLEET FEET Runners
Club (FFRC), formerly the St. Charles YMCA Runners Club, is a
social club that promotes and encourages running. We do this by
holding races, lectures, fun runs and other educational
activities. We also assist running oriented charitable causes
like the Henderson Elementary Runners Club and 2000 Feet. The
FLEET FEET Runners Club is a nonprofit sanctioned by the Road
Runners Club of America (RRCA), governed by an elected Board of
Directors, advised by a volunteer Committee at Large and
administered by FLEET FEET Sports. Click

Saturday Morning Runs
The FLEET FEET Runners Club (FFRC) invites you to join us at our
weekly Saturday morning group run. The Saturday morning runs
take place year-round, rain or shine, at 7:00 AM sharp.
Beginning in January 2009 the club will rotate the location of
the Saturday morning run according to the following schedule:
Jan - Apr: Downtown Saint Charles
May - Aug: Rec-Plex Trail
Sep - Dec: Sailboat Cove at Creve Couer Park
January through April – Downtown
Saint Charles
This course is known to many club members as the “old
club course.” It is a 10 mile out and back (5 miles each
way) course beginning from the intersection of
South Main Street and McDonough Street in downtown Saint
Charles (one block north of Trailhead restaurant). There are
public bathroom facilities two blocks from the start/finish at
the corner of South 2nd Street and Water Street.
The course is somewhat hilly (nothing you can’t handle) and
winds though lightly traveled neighborhood roads to the turn
around point at
Kiwanis Park (Mile 5). Bathroom facilities are available for
most of the year at Kiwanis Park; however St. Charles City turns
the water off and closes the bathrooms for the winter. The club
has made arrangements for a Porta Potty to be available at the
park starting in January though the end of March.
If you are looking for a little longer course, consider adding a
3 mile segment that loops around the Mueller soccer fields. The
“Mueller
Loop” when added to the “old club course” will give you a 13
mile run. If you are looking for something a little easier, the
Katy Trail is located a block east of the start.
Please join us after each run for a cup of coffee, a bagel or
light breakfast and good company at
Java G's, located at
2031 S Old Highway
94, Saint Charles, MO 63303.
May through August – Rec-Plex
Trail
The “Rec-Plex
trail” winds though subdivisions and several small parks in
Saint Peters. The trail crosses several streets and is mostly
flat until it gets near Laurel Park. The course will pop out
onto some lightly traveled neighborhood roads for a couple of
miles, but is otherwise a very scenic course. We will start from
City Centre Park
located on the south side of Mexico Road just west of Saint
Peters City Hall and the Rec-Plex. The trail is shaded and has
several water fountains and restrooms along the trail and in
Laurel Park.
Please join us after each run for a cup of coffee, a bagel or
light breakfast and good company at the
Saint Charles
Coffee House located at
3821 McClay Road in Saint Peters, MO 63376.
September through December –
Sailboat Cove at Creve Coeur Park
We will start running from Sailboat Cove (off Marine Avenue) at
Creve Coeur Lake Park. The course is flat and has a variety
of distances you can choose from. Most members start with the
5.5 mile loop and then either run it again or opt to finish with
the 4 mile loop. You can add 6 miles (3 out & 3 back) to any of
your runs by following the paved trail from the park along the
Paige Avenue extension to the Paige Bridge and back. For a more
challenging run, consider the roughly 10 mile “Hill
Course” which leaves the paved trails and heads into the
woods and neighborhoods surrounding the park. There are bathroom
facilities available year round at Sailboat Cove.
As always, please join us after each run for coffee and bagel at
the Westport Plaza Panera
Bread located at 147 Westport Plaza, Maryland Heights,
63146. It is a short drive from Sailboat Cove – just turn right
out of the parking lot and follow Marine Avenue all the way to
Westport Plaza.
REMINDER: Always keep in mind that thieves know
where runners hang out – and that we’ll be away from our cars
for a while after we start. Always lock your valuables in your
glove compartment or trunk and take your key with you.
Flat Five - August 1, 2010
The FLEET FEET Runners Club hosts the Flat Five on the first
Sunday of August in St. Charles' historic Frontier Park. Held
annually since 1982, the Flat Five is the club's primary
fundraiser. A portion of each entry fee is donated to local
charities. The event consists of a 5 Mile race, a 1 Mile fun
run/walk, and a 50 yard Toddler Trot. All events are open to
wheelchair athletes. A map of the 5 Mile course can be
downloaded here. Download
and mail in the 2010
registration form.
McNair Cross Country Race
The FLEET FEET Runners Club hosts the McNair Cross Country Race
in November at
St. Charles' McNair Park. Held annually on one of St. Louis'
most well-known cross country courses, the McNair Cross Country
Race is a fun event for everyone who wants to go "off pavement".
