Cottleville Firefighters Run for the Helmut 7K

The Cottleville Firefighters Community Outreach is proud to host the St. Patrick’s Day 2nd annual “Run for the Helmet” on March 13, 2010, in Cottleville. Run for the Helmet offers something for everyone! The Race begins at 9:00 AM and consists of a 7k run and a 1 & 2 mile fun run/walk. The 7k run overall 1st place winner male and female will receive an authentic professional firefighters helmet. In addition, a beautiful 7x9 plaque featuring our official full color logo will go to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Awards will also be given to the top finishers in the following divisions: Hydrants (age 17 & under), Rookies (age 18 to 30), Veterans (age 31 to 50), Chiefs (age 51 to 70), and Retirees (age 71 & over).

This event was a proven success last year with over 700 runners and walkers and is setting up to be even better this year. This event is a perfect way to support your local firefighters community outreach program that supports many different charities including helping victims of fires ,vehicle accidents and many other devastating situations.

The 7k course will begin at the Cottleville firefighters firehouse located in downtown historic Cottleville at 1385 Motherhead Rd. leading runners through historic Cottleville business district and ending at Sherlock’s Steak and Seafood Restaurant on highway “N” in Cottleville. Runners will be met with a St. Patrick’s Day celebration featuring live entertainment and plenty of green beer with an awards ceremony following at 10:30 AM.

Following the run the City of Cottleville’s Heritage foundation will be hosting a huge St. Patrick’s Day Parade beginning at 12 PM. The parade hosted over 85 first class St. Patrick’s Day floats and nearly 10,000 festive people came out to join in the fun.

Kelly green T-shirts with our official full color logo will go to all registered runners and walkers at a registration cost of $20 for early registration and $25 on day of race. You can register online or download and entry form. We will have in person registration March 8th – 12th at Cottleville fire station #1 located at 1385 Motherhead Rd. in Cottleville. A map of the run and parade route can also be downloaded from the Cottleville Firefighter's website.
