Karnazes'
UltraMarathon Man Documentary
In addition to completing fifty marathons in fifty
states in fifty days, Karnazes has repeatedly pushed his
body and mind to inconceivable limits. He won the world's
toughest footrace, the Badwater Ultramarathon, a 135-mile
run across Death Valley in 130-degree temperatures. He has
also run a marathon to the South Pole at temperatures
reaching forty degrees below zero. His other feats have
included a 200-mile relay, which he ran solo against teams
of twelve, and a 350-mile non-stop run. His book, Ultramarathon
Man: Confessions of an All-Night Runner, is a national
bestseller, and is the #7 best-selling sports book
worldwide.

Sing loud and sing proud in Girlmax Sports' short-sleeve tech
tees. Made just for women, Girlmax apparel celebrates female
athletes-- and does so with style and a sense of humor. Both the
boldly hued "I Run Like a Girl" top and the illustrated "Girls Tri
Harder" shirt boast a modern, feminine fit.
The high-tech microfiber
material is lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking, ensuring
you stay cool and dry during your workouts. Moreover, Girlmax uses
BodyFreshe in every garment to keep you clean and fresh all day.
The race begins at 7:00AM and consists of a 5-mile run, a 1-mile fun
run/walk, and a 50-yard Toddler Trot. This year, the Nike+ van will
make an appearance with a crew of experts to show you everything you
need to know about the Nike+ system, allowing you to make the most
of your Nike+ experience. This fun event is the perfect way to
support the local running community, benefit area charities, and
spend quality time with family and friends.
The Flat Five is the Runners Club's primary fundraiser,
and a portion of each entry fee is donated to local charities. "The
proceeds from last year's race benefited 2000 Feet and the Disabled
Athlete Sports Association, two groups the club is very proud to
support. This year, Ameren UE gave the club a grant to help put on
the race. Our goal this year is to put on another great event and to
generate even more funds to support local charities that are closely
associated with our passion-- running!" said Runners Club President
Chris Heupel, who has both run and volunteered for the Flat Five.
The 5-mile course is a general out-and-back, with the
first three miles on the streets and the last two miles on the Katy
Trail. Split times will be provided every mile. Water will be
available twice along the way. The 1-mile course is an out-and-back
on the Katy Trail, while the Toddler Trot-- which is limited to
children ages 3 and under-- will be a short run near the
Start/Finish area. All events are open to wheelchair athletes.
Numbered trophies will be given to all 5-Mile and 1-Mile finishers.
There will also be special awards for Toddler Trot participants.

"I have always been wary of thin socks. I associated
thin socks with a 'slippery' feeling-- as though my foot
were sliding around in my shoe. When I first bought a pair
of Balega's Hidden Dry socks, I was a bit skeptical about
whether or not I would like them. (A classic case of Skimpy
Sock Syndrome.) However, not only was there no slipping, but
my foot remained both secure and incredibly cool within my
shoe. In fact, the breathability of the sock is what really
impressed me. My foot stayed cool and comfortable, even
during my longest runs and on the hottest days. I also loved
how Balega's seamless mesh construction completely
eliminated any hot spots caused by bunching. Moreover, the
extra deep heel pocket kept the sock from sliding down into
my shoe. Verdict: With Hidden Dry, Balega has perfected the
thin sock."

Having assisted with several No Boundaries runs, I have found the
program to be very inspiring! Most of the participants are first
time runners or walkers, and it is exciting to see the progress they
have made since the beginning of their journey. Everyone is eager to
get out there and tackle the miles-- and what better way to take on
such a challenge than surrounded by others who share the same goal?
The camaraderie of all of the new runners and walkers has been
inspiring, and I know that all will finish strong on Saturday, July
19th!
Sincerely,
Angela Stewart
